32nd Motorcar Gathering and Picnic
Beautiful Weather and Cars for 32nd Annual Event!
by Janet Thomson

Rumor has it that CTR’s Annual British Motorcar Gathering and Picnic has yet to be rained out- although there have been a few close calls! For the 32nd time, we had beautiful weather on Sunday, September 9th for the gathering at Wickham Park in Manchester, CT. Participants and spectators were treated to a field of nearly 100 cars of various British origin, age, and color. Across the field, one could see folks admiring the cars, talking with drivers, sharing stories and laughs. Connecting LBC people to each other is really what this event is all about. You will see pictures of people and their cars on this site, and in the CTR newsletter.

Best of Show went to a gorgeous yellow 1950 MG TD owned by George and Maryanne Muscolino of Southbury, CT. To encourage the younger generation's interest in British cars, we present a Young Exhibitor Award to a participant who is, well, younger than their car! The recipient this year was Mathieu Porier of North Windham, CT. Mat recently purchased the red 1970 Triumph Spitfire that he and Amanda drove the event. He will receive a one year subscription to Classic Motorsports.

And now for the Thank You’s….....
An event like this is not successful without support from CTR members and club supporters. First, we thank Wickham Park and its staff for the wonderful venue and for their help throughout the day. We also recognize BS Troop 28 from Hebron who come each year and provide lunch. As always, we appreciate the support and involvement of the CT MG Club in our events.
Several club members volunteered their time in the months leading up to the event or day of event. These folks include: Matt Stus, Terry and Marjean Telke, Dave and Jean Icaza, Alex and Janet Thomson, Chris Wilson, Ken Adams, Andrew Pascal, Dave Semple, Fred McNutt, Paul Reder, Paul Zucco, Joan and Joe Bloeman, Liz and Donnie Mathis, and Ed Mix.
Participants received a “goodie bag” and had chances at raffle items. Those who provided items or funding included: Moss Motors, Victoria British, Classic Motorsports Magazine, Lime Rock Park, British Wiring, Triumph Rescue, British Parts NorthWest, Hemmings Motor News, LBC Car Co, Apple Hydraulics, British Miles, British Marque, D&J Restoration, GB Spares, C&G Woodcraft, Bob Danielson, Terry and Marjean Telke, Matt Strus, Liz and Donnie Mathis.

See you next year at the 33rd!
