A Big Thanks

by Alex Thomson

By now, all CTR members have had a chance to pour through the complimentary June issue of the British Marque News. Bruce Vild, editor and publisher of the BMN, agreed to send a sample issue to all CTR members. Faith Lamprey, subscription manager, was able to send the special 20th anniversary issue of the publication to all CTR members. Many of you may have noticed that the “Triumph Reporter” section, compiled by secretary Bob Gillis, appeared up on page 5. The British Marque News is a wonderful publication to help one stay tuned into the activities of more than 100 other British Car Clubs. See their website at www.BritishMarque.com or write to them at  5 Old Nasonville Rd., Harrisville, RI, 02830  (Tel. 401-766-6920) for information about subscriptions.

Be sure to indicate that you are a CTR member for special participating club rates. Thanks Bruce and Faith.

Last Chance Cruise - Oct 17 - Save the Date

This year’s Last Chance Cruise is scheduled for Sunday, October 17th. Step into a world where the clock stopped 75 years ago. Visit buildings where wall calendars show pictures in the 20’s and 30’s. The place is Cole Palen’s Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome located in Rhinebeck, N.Y. We will visit the aerodrome as our last organized tour of the fall. Many of you may remember our tour to this historic site 7 or 8 years ago. Similar to our previous tour there, we will set up a gathering point(s) along the way. To help you in your planning, we would want to leave the Southbury area at 9:15 am. Know of any other LBC owners? Invite them too. We will be inviting the CT MG folks. Remember last year’s cruise to Gillette Castle that Dave Fallon organized and how great that was. Stay tuned to the website and the September issue of the Triumph Reporter.  For more information about the aerodrome, check their website at www.OldRhinebeck.org

CTR member- here is some late breaking news regarding the Historic Festival at Lime Rock:

The event organizers are offering a Car Corral for MGs and Triumphs on Saturday, September 4th. Corrals include premium parking in the infield, parade laps and goodie bags. You must purchase an advanced ticket(s) for Saturday. Advanced ticket price is $35 per person (compared to the Gate ticket price of $45). Advanced ticket sales end on August 27th. Car Corral tickets are not sold on the day of the event. If you are interested, please go to the website www.limerock.com or call 860-435-5000 (M-F: 9AM -5PM). Children 12 & under are admitted free. Event occurs rain or shine. No refunds or exchanges are permitted.
Over the last few years, the MG Club has tried to drum up interest in an MG Car Corral. By combining forces for an MG-Triumph Car Corral, we hope to maximize participation in the Corral and parade our cars on the track.
